An interview with the founder of Bose

I've had three sets of speakers from them over the years: 301's, 201's, and a 150(?) center channel speaker. I returned the latter because I did not like the sound. I still have the 301's, they're right now in my living room, waiting for my DVD and LaserDisc player to be connected up so that they can once again have movies played through them!

I also highly recommend the noise-canceling headphones. Very nice on flights.

The 50th anniversary of Sputnik!

Interesting stuff, a little before my time. I found it amusing that when people were watching the red blinking light trace across the sky, it wasn't actually the satellite....

Weird coincidence: photojournalist gunned down in Myanmar

on the same day that I gave a presentation in my art class about photojournalism, including that these people risk their lives doing what they do.

If anyone's interested and a glutton for punishment, I'd be happy to email my PowerPoint to you. Send me a PM through my profile page if you want it.

IT'S ALIVE! (mostly)

I now have TV, DVD, and LaserDisc!

Sadly, my TV needs very badly to be degaussed. Richard Dreyfuss in Moon Over Parador is looking rather purplish. And my remotes are in Cloudcroft (I think). Hopefully my ever-so-lovely and perpetually-underpraised wife will bring them down to me Friday night. And hopefully I can find the degauss function buried in the menus somewhere once I get the TV remote back.

Now I can watch Millionaire's Express and Wing Chun!

My LaserDisc still needs a knife to pry the door open to eject the tray, and I'm sure it still doesn't auto-reverse, but that's the way it goes.
