A new way to get your computer infected!

Email attachments don't work too much any more, and people are becoming more wary of links in email. Well, there's a new one going around -- FTP links! Lots of people unknowingly have FTP services running on their machine, and clicking on such a link will cause the malware payload to download and possibly execute.

Interesting times in which we live...

Another reason to love GoDaddy!

A web site, RateMyCop.com, was silenced by GoDaddy with no adequate explanation. The site allows people to post photos and videos of uniformed police officers performing public duties and the posters can rate them and comment on what they saw. The officers can also post responses, and they don't store home address information or anything on undercover officers. Sounds pretty straight forward to me.

Well, apparently some people think otherwise and complained to GoDaddy, who yanked the connection with no notification.

It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Myself, I terminated my relationship with GoDaddy last year. I had all of my domains registered through them, but after they did the exact same thing to other sites (and also surrendered supposedly private registration information without a court order), I decided they were getting no more of my business.

If you're considering new domain registration or hosting services, I'd be happy to discuss my experiences with you.
