Pain is temporary, but YouTube is forever. Also, public official making public statements at a public event. If the GOP successfully uses copyright as a tool to protect a public official's embarrassment, I think that a lot of people will have a fit and demand that all their own indiscretions be sent to the Memory Hole as well.
