European privacy/security experts think American cloud computing isn't secure enough

Of course, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft dispute this. But the simple fact is that Microsoft has stated that if the U.S. government requests data from their cloud in Ireland (backed up in Amsterdam) that they cannot guarantee that European data might not be taken with it, something that is against EU data privacy laws.

This definitely opens up the market for companies like SAP to create their own clouds.
