Rot In Peace

This links to a slide show of buildings experiencing natural decay and ponders the thought of preservation vs decay. Kind of interesting. Ten slides, very good photographs.

Near where I used to live in Ohio are the remains of Chippewa Lake Amusement Park. It was closed in 1978 and has been left to rot in the woods. It's so weird to look at the photos of trees growing up through the middle of rides and such. I joined a yahoo group where people post photos of the park (past and what's left at present). It's kinda sad, but kinda neat at the same time to walk down memory lane. At least it hasn't been plowed over for crappy condos or a Wal-Mart.

Oh, and someone did a Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 layout of the part which I must get my hands on!

This site has some nice (and obsessively thorough) photographs of the woods taking over CLP.
