A 100% biodegradeable mask - that grows flowers!

This is quite awesome! The mask is biodegradable, the strings are wool, the ink printed on it is eco-friendly, and the rice paper mask is embedded with seeds! The filtration properties are about as effective as a cloth mask, so 'tis to be used in conjunction with a higher quality mask.

When you're done with the mask, rather than throwing it away, just plant it in the ground!

The masks run about 3 Euros each and are currently only available in Germany and Belgium, and presumably Holland.

Oh my gosh I love this. I feel so bad when I see disposable masks on the streets. Hopefully she can ship to other countries besides Belgium and Germany soon.

I've seen one or two on the ground, but that's all. I was raised with the "use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without" adage, so tossing them makes no sense to me. If you throw them out and need to buy more, that's money you could spend on something else.

I've been spraying my used masks heavily with alcohol, then letting them hang for a week before reusing them. Seems like it should work. I use a fresh inner mask (the blue folded medical kind) for each place I go into because they start to get damp and clammy. So I use 3 or 4 on my weekly trip to town; it would be a dreadful waste if I threw all of those away. I do buy more alcohol than previously, but it's cheaper than masks.

That's an interesting idea. They would go well with other masks to try and increase protection. I wonder if they would have a pleasant dirt smell or something like that.

And I've got some left-over chia seeds from my chia pet. I wonder if those could be made to grow on a mask, and then I could have a chia mask to wear.
