RIP: Peter Bogdanovich and Sidney Poitier

Two film biggies, in two days.

Bogdanovich is famous for The Last Picture Show and Paper Moon, the latter starring hisRyan O'Neal and HIS real-life daughter, Tatum O'Neal, and she won an Oscar for her role at the age of 10.

(ETA: I misread the obit. I actually saw Paper Moon way back when. Brain fart.)

Sidney Poitier, aged 94. A break-through actor who was the first black man to win a Best Actor Oscar for his 1963 film Lilies of the Valley, not for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Also well known for his performance in the film In The Heat of the Night and the well-known line, "They call me Mr. Tibbs".

It was sad news hearing of his death. He was a great actor and did so much more for many black artists.
