Kanye buys social media platform Parler

He was recently temporarily banned from Twitter and Instagram for making an anti-Semitic post about going "Death Con 3" on Jews. Now he owns his own social media platform and can't be suspended again.

One comment said 'he can't be cancelled, but he can still be ignored.'

Amusingly, apparently sources close to Trump say that he thinks Kanye needs help based on his Tucker Carlson Show appearance in which allegedly a ton of anti-Semitic material was left on the cutting room floor.

I have been enjoying watching the alt-right freak out about 'censorship' on Twitter etc., march off to bigots-welcome-here social platforms, and then discover that bigotry makes a terrible baseline for social interaction.

Oh, and that if they make them public-view, they get raked over the coals on Twitter; if they lock them to members only, it's much harder to get people to join. (We all have too many accounts on too many websites already.)

They want a place to scream about "the libs" without restriction. Only, doing so without any "libs" around to react gets boring.

It does seem like one of the constants of the right wing social media ecosystem is that someone is being more active in the grift, rather than at least trying to hide it behind something legitimate.

Also, I thought Parler's claim to popularity was that it was going to be the place for Trump-in-Twitter-exile. Other than that, sure, you might not be cancelable if you own the platform, but if you're primarily concerned about not getting cancelled, you have bigger issues to worry about.
