CBS & Warner form new network, closing UPN & WB

So let's see.

Number of shows I watch on CBS: zero.
Number of shows I watch on WB: zero.
Number of shows I watch on UPN: zero.

Yup, looks like a winner in my book!

Here's the story.

Well, the WB has a special place in my heart with their old mid-90's cartoons (you know, the ones that were actually made in America still), but since they don't show those anymore, I say good riddance. :P

[identity profile] thewayne.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that is true. Nothing beats the original Bugs Bunny. And I will admit a fondness for Gilmore Girls, but not enough to go out of my way to watch.

Ack!

Smallville! Charmed! Veronica Mars!! My syndicated showings of SG1, Atlantis and Alias!!!! I do not have an appropriately concerned icon for this post. :(

You're not the target demographic, but you knew that. I agree somewhat with Emerald01 -- I have occasionally caught Smallville and Veronica Mars, and a few of the other WB shows (I think), but like you they haven't been gripping enough for me to go out of my way to watch them systematically. Warcraft and mosaics are *much* more interesting.

Are those tv shows?

LOL!!!

That's not very helpful, you know. :p

Sorry, I thought you were ribbing me. ;) Wayne knows I play the computer online game "World of Warcraft" and that I make mosaics professionally. My TV watching hours have fallen by the wayside because I'm more inclined to do one of those two things in the evening than I am to sit in front of the TV. Granted, sitting in front of the computer is not much better, but at least it's interactive and not so passive as TV. And I spend time on the mosaics because (a) I love doing the work, and (b) it's how I make a portion of my income.

Is that better?

:-) Yes, thank you. I can see where it looked like I was being smart-alecky. I didn't really think it was tv shows, but figured they were some kind of game or something I didn't know about.

Mosaics, eh? With actual tiles and everything? That is so amazing. I can't imagine being able to put those things together. tres cool.

Cheers!

Yup, tiles and everything. :) I've spent most of my life doing science fiction and fantasy illustrating for role playing games and the collectible card games, but in recent years wanted something more tactile. After playing with a bunch of different things like ceramics and sculpture, I've been doing mosaics pretty steadily for the last year or so. ;)

That's very cool... I just went and looked at your site. That is some great artwork! I never could draw anything decent without a LOT of erasing. And of course fantasy artwork is most excellent! Do you have pics of your mosaics somewhere? I didn't see them on the site...

Um... We are totally jacking Wayne's journal, aren't we? :-D

We are totally going off in his space, aren't we!? LOL

Thank you very much for your kind words. Trust me, I don't know what you do, but I dead-on guarantee you there's something I can't do and wish I could. Art is just something I *can* do, kinda.

I've added you as a friend so you can go look at my posts from 1/5/06 and 12/18/05... both have a lot of current pics of mosaics. The website is *shudder* years out of date and I reallyreallyreally need to do something about that RSN!

Well, if you ever wanted to annoy my mom... I'm better at that than anyone I know, the poor woman. :)

I will definitely go check out your LJ. Thanks for adding me!

Wayne, we now return you to your regularly scheduled LJ. ;)

Damn journaljackers!

[puts on red tie]

"No respect, I tell ya!"

[removes red tie]

I don't mind, I've known Liz for a long time and she does great work. I wish (a) that I had money with which to hire her and (b) that my games were more oriented for her art styles so that she could illo my games, but that's the way it is.

I have several photos of Liz's mosaics, if she gives me the word (and image number) I can put them up somewhere public.

I didn't really think you minded, cuz you're cool like that. :) I wish I could hire her, too. I want my own personal fanstasy avatar pic. I am SOOOO self-centered. :p

I was still trying to find the posts with mosaic pics when I had to leave work yesterday. I'll probably be looking again today.

Cheers!

I have the worst luck with shows that I truly love... Firefly, Keen Eddie... I don't wanna lose Veronica Mars. *sniffle*

I think we're okay.

[identity profile] emerald01.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I read, they're going to keep shows from both networks, not shut them down. Nosey started a big panic over nothing. :p

Cheers!

I match you for shows watched on CBS and the WB, but there is one show I watch on UPN (and you know which one it is). I do wish I could find the time to watch Veronica Mars more often, but somehow it just doesn't grab me enough to get me to sit down in front of the TV whenever it's on (has UPN finally decided upon a time slot for it yet?).

The AZ Republic reported that the WB and UPN will be combined to form a new network -- badly named CW -- which will debut this fall and will feature whatever shows of those two networks that happen to be renewed. Considering that the one show that I watch is the top-rated show on UPN, I'm not too worried about its fate.

Yeah, but the rest of us don't... you tease! :)

It's Smackdown. About ten years ago, I got hooked on professional wrestling after reviling it for most of my previous life. Given my distaste for reality shows and anything with the brand of either "CSI" or "Law and Order", the only shows that I make an effort to watch each week are "Smackdown" and "Raw".
