Trumps no good, very VERY bad day! Sidney Powell pleads guilty in GA and flips!

Sidney agreed to plead guilty to reduced charges, getting the RICO counts dismissed. She's pleading guilty to misdemeanors, will serve six years probation, pay restitution, write an apology letter to the citizens of Georgia - I really like that part! - and best of all, will testify against the other people charged in this sprawling racketeering case.

No mention as to whether she'll lose her legal license, I would expect it will be suspended until she completes her parole. At least she'll be saving a buttload of money from having to defend herself against those RICO charges!

While this settles Powell's situation in Georgia - FOR NOW, she's not free and clear. Apparently Jack Smith is looking over the possibility of charges against her. There is speculation that she previewed some extremely damning evidence and testimony that she's willing to produce on the witness stand under oath to get the charges against her reduced and dismissed. But therein is the fly in the ointment: I'm sure these reduced charges are entirely contingent on her producing against her co-defendants before she gets that plea agreement actually certified.

In other news, Arizona is increasing its investigation of the false electors issues from the 2020 election, which will not only involve Trump, but Rudy and I'm pretty sure Sidney, not to mention - or so I imagine - a whole clown-car full of a supporting cast. There's no telling when those charges will drop, but I expect they will. The wheels of justice may turn slow, but they grind exceedingly fine.

I hope she and the others still have big problems ahead. This does seem like it will really hurt tRump some though at least. If she gets to keep practicing as an attorney without even getting a suspension, I will be appalled.

WOW, the least they could do is take away her legal license. :o
I sure hope she sings loud and clear regarding a certain low life. :o
Hugs, Jon

I think there's also a possibility that the testimony she has to provide in the Georgia case will be useful to the federal prosecutions and quite possibly might be funneled to the Special Counsel just in case there's something he can charge her with and try to pressure her to continue testifying against the other people in the investigation. There's often the best deals available for those who flip first, so she might be able to engage in enlightened self-interest, testify and put others away for far longer than herself, and hope that perhaps the whole matter will blow over and she can go back to being a practicing person with a much tarnished reputation.

While it wouldn't be the perfect result of all of them being sent off for a long time and required to pay ruinous penalties, if one or two manage to get away so that the vice squeezes the others harder, I suppose that's an acceptable price.

I'm hoping that she gives accurate and truthful testimony and that there are reasons for her to continue doing so in any and all of the cases where she might be indicted or called upon as a witness.
