John Boyega to play Otis Redding in an upcoming biopic!

*gasp*

To borrow from another great song, I'm so excited!

Redding died at the ridiculously young age of 26 from one of the two most common takers of young musicians, plane crash, in December 1967. Cast along with Boyega is "Till" star Danielle Deadwyle as Redding's wife. The project is to be called "Otis and Zelma".

Redding, most famously known for Sitting On A Dock On The Bay, also wrote a little number later covered by Aretha Franklin, Respect.

Now, in a cool twist, Zelma is still alive! After Otis was killed, she opened a booking agency and some side businesses, she also never remarried. I really hope they make a great film and that she gets to see it.

Normally I'm not a huge biopic fan, but I'm DEFINITELY going to be seeing this one!

I hope they will use her for information. :o

On another note, I was listening to a radio version of A Star Is Born last night on the drive home from Minneapolis. It starred Janet Gaynor. :)
