Meme Failure

Well, I tried to do a meme where you take the first line of the first entry of every month for the previous year and put it all together. Mine was so utterly lame that I didn’t bother posting it. Instead, I’m doing a rather more interesting one that I read on MonkeyGirlDiva’s blog in which you…

1. Pick 10 movies that you enjoy.
2. Pick a line of dialogue that you like.
3. As people guess the film, strike out that entry.

But, as this was me, I went to twenty films. Some of the quotes might be slightly off, but you should get the gist, assuming you know the film. Some I consider rather easy, others somewhat less so. I'll be very surprised if anyone gets the "ninja" quote as I know only one other person who has seen the film, I'll post a clue in a day or so.

  1. "As you can see, the penis is now more or less fully erect." DeboraK, Monty Python's Meaning of Life

  2. "Blondie! I’ll see you in hell!"
  3. Magic_Rat, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

  4. Man: "Do you love me?" Woman: "I love you." Man: "Do you trust me?" Woman: "I trust you."

  5. "Fix the lighter."

  6. "He makes me laugh."
  7. Magic_Rat, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

  8. "He said the new sheriff is near!"
  9. Magic_Rat, Blazing Saddles

  10. "I am The Supreme Being, I’m not completely dense."
  11. DeboraK, Time Bandits

  12. "It could be raining."
  13. PaulMC, Young Frankenstein

  14. "Just a bunch of savages in this town."
  15. Apostate_96, Clerks

  16. "Let me ask you something, maybe you can help me. What’s wrong with my life? Why is my wife sleeping with someone else? Why can’t I sleep?"

  17. "Not only is he dead, he’s over 3000 miles away!"

  18. "Roger was over Unger and Unger was under Dunn."
  19. Magic_Rat, Airplane

  20. "Sealed with a curse as sharp as a knife, doomed is your soul and damned is your life!"
  21. Magic_Rat, Buckaroo Banzai

  22. "Tell me, are you lately humbled in the act of love?"

  23. "That rug really brought the room together."

  24. "We are not ninja!"

  25. "We used to spend our summers in Eagle River." Group: "EAGLE RIVER?!"

  26. "Where did you learn to fight like that?" "From the Jackie Chan collection of the Schwarzenegger Presidential Library."
  27. Magic_Rat, Demolition Man

  28. "You remove the cap and stick it up your nose, it’s for my sinuses."
  29. PaulMC, Never Say Never Again

  30. "You were so drunk you couldn’t even buy brandy!"

These are just wildass guesses because I barely remember a movie once the credits have rolled.

Is the penis quote from Monty Python's Meaning of Life?

The "Let me ask you something" sounds Woody Allenish, is it from What's Up Tiger Lily?

And now a quiz for you. These two lines are stuck in my head, but I can't remember what movies they were from.

"And now it's dark." Some suspense/horror film, where something bad was supposed to happen when it got dark . . .?

"That, I did not know." Said by a teamster boss at the docks when the good guys (whom the dockworkers were about to assault) told them that the drug lords were moving cargo without paying off the teamsters . . . ?

Hmmm

For the first one I'd guess After Dark, the second one is familiar, I think it's a recent cop movie, probably 2 or 3 years ago, but I don't recall the title.

I was thinking perhaps The Italian Job, but that's not right. I'm now thinking it was a heist flick.

Last Guess

Is the Supreme Being line from Time Bandits?

That, I did know!!!

[identity profile] magic-rat.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The line "That, I did not know." was from Eraser, an otherwise forgettable Arnie movie. The union boss and his muscle were being informed of an illegal weapons shipment that was taking place on his docks without using union labor.

Ah, I haven't seen the last two Arnie movies and don't plan on seeing them either.

I'd try to play but, like Debora, I can't remember fuckall about a movie after I walk out of it. In one ear and out the other.

Okay, I know that #9 shows up in Clerks
