An inside story as to what went wrong with making the new Superman movie

I thought I had posted this here last November after having posted it on another board, but apparently I didn't. Basically it's a fairly exhaustive study of most, if not all, of the horrors that happened during the development of the current Superman movie.

Some of the things that they wanted to do are absolutely frightening. I am not understating the previous sentence. It's also a pretty long read. And if you think the giant mechanical spider in Will Smith's Wild Wild West was bad -- that spider was originally intended for Superman!

I have very little desire to see this film. It's going to take absolutely amazing reviews and record-breaking (on the high end, not the low end) box office performance before I see this flic.

[sarcasm]For an encore the next Batman movie will feature Bats with an M-60 machinegun and a K-Bar knife for the close-up work. [/sarcasm]

I've read this before, I think you might have posted it here. Still it's a good eye opener for anyone who hasn't read it. Although everything written there seems to be before Bryan Singer got on board.

Actually, I posted it on the Buffalo board back in late November, I went through the messages until I found the link, fortunately it had not yet aged off.

Not that you read the Buffalo board :-)

I might have posted it here, but I couldn't find the entry when I was cruising through my calendar for October through December '05.

After reading this, and seeing Corpse Bride and his reimagining of Willy Wonka, I'm beginning to wonder if Tim Burton is losing it. Or maybe it's just that the hubris that was always there is finally coming out to play in public.

However, I will always cherish his earlier work like Nightmare before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands.

Eh, I've never been able to blindly love anybody's work, whether it's in books or movies or music; there must be an inherent quality, above and beyond the people involved.

Jesus Christ! Given all that, I'm surprised they never offered roles to Paul Reubens Oprah Winfrey, Geraldo Rivera or Heston!!

Or for some REAL fun it could always be Jet Li or Jackie Chan!!
