Play stupid games.... Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT event attendees get severe UV burns!

My mind boggles.

Apparently someone installed the wrong kind of ultraviolet lights to light up the stage at an expo for Bored Ape Yacht Club in Hong Kong last weekend and a number of people experienced severe sun burn and EYE DAMAGE. I mean, I experience eye damage looking at Bored Ape NFTs, apparently this was much worse to the point of people being unable to see! Most sought treatment at local hospitals and I guess didn't require hospitalization, the article is pretty short. The organizers say that less than 1% of attendees and workers were affected.

So that's the new line: NFTs cause blindness and skin cancer!

Frankly, I'm amazed that there would be enough people to attend such an event, much less in Hong Kong.

UPDATE: the people who set up the lights installed UV-C lights which are used to sterilize ENTIRE ROOMS. Sounds like they used the same people who measured the track for the Pan Olympics Games.

The Original Star Trek Enterprise model may have been found!

The original was only three feet long. It was used in the pilot extensively since they didn't have the 11' model at that point, it was then later used as a desk model in the show occasionally throughout the series. Rodenberry lent it to the makers of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and somehow it was never returned! Recently it popped up on Ebay with a starting bid of $1,000 and appears quite authentic. People deeply invested in the show contacted the person behind the auction and said it should be returned to Rodenberry's estate, and the auction has been taken down, no further information at this point.

The 11' model is in the Smithsonian.

Trump seems to be deliberately provoking judge while on witness stand

According to attorney Alan Dershowitz, it's not an uncommon strategy. If you think you cannot receive a fair trial in front of a particular judge, stress the judge into making bad calls that can then be overturned on appeal. Dershowitz worked this in the Chicago Seven case successfully. In Trump's case, I think Engoron is made of pretty stern stuff and is unlikely to make mistakes, but time will tell as the trial continues to play out.

The thing that I find amusing is that Engoron has already essentially made a finding of guilt. The evidence presented by the State was sufficiently overwhelming for him to do that, and from what I've read thus far, the defense has not produced anything convincing to counterbalance, much less truly refute that. The Boopsie Twins, err, Don Jr. and Eric, did such a marvelous job of denying any responsibility while on the stand, meanwhile their cousin goes on Twitter saying 'Eric says his job is to pour concrete, which he's never done a day in his life.'

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, when supposedly The Princess is supposed to testify, even though it's a school week. I would think she can afford to get a sitter.

The thing that I love the most about this whole imbroglio? Mar a Laugho is owned by a NEW YORK LLC. It could be on the chopping block to be sold with the rest of his New York properties! I don't know if it is or isn't, but seems like it's a possibility!

One of the best parts is that there's a reason why this case is being heard in front of a judge and not in front of a jury: TRUMP'S LEGAL TEAM SCREWED UP! They failed to request a jury trial! All of Trump's bleating about how he's being persecuted and 'it's a witch hunt!' is falling on the completely deaf ears of Judge Eregorn. They failed to get the paperwork filed properly or promptly, and now they're stuck. Nobody's fault but theirs.

The worst part is that none of this will be resolved before the election next year, with appeals etc. However, since this is happening at the state level, if somehow the twit should regain the presidency (Buddha help us all!) he can't do much to stop it.

What would you do with six thousand copies of The Da Vinci Code?

A UK artist purposely sought out 6,000 copies of the Dan Brown book. He started the project several years ago when he heard the local Oxfam shop (an Oxford College charity/thrift shop) was no longer accepting copies of the book because they had so many copies. David Shrigley, noted UK artist, took the books, had them pulped, then reprinted George Orwell's 1984! He also included a piece of artwork. They're being sold to support Oxfam at 500 pounds each in a limited edition of 1250 copies.

George Orwell died 70 years ago and his work is now in the public domain in the UK.
