My friend who had a tumor removed last Friday?

Doing reasonably well. The operation lasted six hours, after two hours in recovery he was moved to ICU and Sunday was moved to a regular room. It looks like they were successful in removing the tumor entirely, so that's good. He's going to be on a colostomy bag until he loses another 150 lbs, then they'll be able to reattach everything.

I spoke with him tonight, he was in good spirits but pretty tired, he'd had two guests for a couple of hours and was kinda fatigued. He had a bit of a complication that was discovered today, the suture site (well, staples, actually) developed a subcutaneous infection. They had to remove the staples, clean it up, and pack it. That'll slow his recovery just a bit, I don't know if he'll be able to walk much until that heals.

He and I have traded voicemails on our phones. We have a knack of calling when the other is sleeping.

LOL. I caught him first try, but we only talked for 5-10 minutes.

I'm glad to hear things went reasonably well. I will keep my fingers crossed that that subcutaneous infection doesn't get out of control -- a library co-worker's husband had a similar situation arise after a laparoscopic appendectomy, and it was a real mess before it was all over. I swear, I *know* I was better off in Thailand. I hope he feels better soon; give him my best.
