Doonesbury Say What?

"I don't think Obama has much fun. I mean, he hasn't hung around people who enjoy life. He hangs around people who are, you know, enraged and angry and ticked off all the time -- from his college professors on down to his terrorist buddies."
-- Rush Limbaugh

I would love to see Obama sue his ass off for making publicized statements like that. Yes, there's the first amendment, but there's also laws against libel and slander.

No, you can't sue over opinion. Otherwise, Bush could have silenced everyone who's called him a mental defective for the last eight years.

Isn't he dead yet?

If Rush hasn't been sued over significantly more inflammatory statements than that, this won't do it. I'm thinking it might be good to just start referring to them as comedians rather than political commentators, as Olbermann does.

The thing that I hate is that he promotes himself as a trusted news source until he gets sued for false information, then he says he's an entertainer. I still pissed that he avoided prison with his drug bust, a black person or a poor person would be doing time.

Yeah, there's a lot that Rush and the Republican mindset in general have gotten away with that lesser people or Democrats would be hounded for. I guess the mental state of Rush is that he is a trusted news source, to those that believe the same way he does, but he realizes, when convenient, that he's not actually a news source and is an entertainer to the rest of us.
