"V for Vendetta" pushed back to March

One of the best comic book collection/graphic novels, in my ever so humble opinion, is Alan Moore's V for Vendetta. It tells the story of a fascist British government and a lone figure taking revenge upon it.

It was made into a movie! (insert Happy Happy Joy Joy here) It starred Natalie Portman (The Professional, Star Wars, etc), and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith, Elrond). In fact, Portman was almost arrested by NYPD when she returned from England and principle cinematography: she had to shave her head for the role, she was pulled over for expired registration and her look didn't come close to her driver's license photo.

ANYWAY, the tag line for the film was "Remember, Remember the 5th of November" which is Guy Fawkes Day, the anniversary of a plot to blow up Parliament. The movie was originally scheduled to be released on November 4, so the tag line would have been pretty cool.

Now it's been pushed back to March, allegedly for post-production reasons.

Sigh.

Oh, it's being produced by the Wachowski Brothers, of Matrix fame.

And the Slashdot thread from whence I learned of the delay.

That's okay, at the first press conferance for the movie they had announced that the movie was going to be released on the 100th anniversary of the gunpowder plot. I kept wondering where they got the time machine.

HAH! I love it when mistakes like that happen!

Speaking of anniversaries, my wife and I are planning on going back to the island on Lake Eirie where we spent our honeymoon, South Bass Island, OH, in 2012 for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, Oliver Hazard Perry won a major naval battle against the Brits and has a peace memorial on the island that is quite cool. Interestingly, it will be the centenial of the monument.
