Library advertises a book burning to avoid being shut down

Absolutely brilliant. The city of Troy, Michigan, had scheduled a vote to increase taxes 0.7% to keep the library open. The teabaggers started spewing forth, putting signs all over town to vote no. The library got crazy clever and started posting signs saying "Vote Yes to close down the library, book burning party 2 days later".

The response was amazing. The measure passed with a voter turnout 342% greater than projected.

There's a video at the end of the article that is an absolute must-watch.

That's not my library -- we live in literally the next town over -- but I work in Troy. It was indeed awesome.

I would have loved to have been there for it! I imagine the signs are a bit collectible now.
