The tax return fraud gang that was targeting healthcare professionals?

As I suspected, there was a single point of failure, one company offering healthcare providers both payroll and HR services. They apparently were compromised. It's amazing how many people don't realize that once you surrender your company's information to a cloud or a third-party service provider that you no longer have any control over it.

I realize that the margins on clinics can be pretty thin and their cash flow can vary wildly, but they really need to reconsider out-sourcing basic practices. One or two people could handle payroll and HR for most clinics, too many people buy in to the buzzwords of the cloud etc.

One would think, but too many companies are seduced by the potential savings of the cloud to understand the potential risks.

Meanwhile I'm approaching my second year of not being employed in the IT field.
