I love it when a plan doesn't come together!

Steve, a co-worker, decided to prank me while I was gone. He got a key to my office and installed a little electronic noisemaker that would chirp like a cricket every 5 minutes or so.

The only problem with his plan is that I have a hearing loss in the upper frequencies, and he didn't know this.

I get in to work Monday and I'm listening to new music all day as I'd gotten a new (to me) Kraftwerk CD and two Alan Parsons Project. Totally didn't hear the cricket. Tuesday AM, I'm not listening to music, but I still don't hear it. I go to leave for lunch and Steve is going out for a smoke at the same time. He says "So, did you find that cricket?" Complete bafflement from me. Apparently it was driving the people in in the two adjoining offices nuts, and I totally didn't hear it.

I was greatly amused. He was rather disappointed.

Seems like someone didn't quite think their prank through enough to ensure that it would have to be dealt with. Lesson learned, maybe, although I'm not sure which lesson it was.

I probably shouldn't, being a reasonably polite bunny, be giggling quite so much at this. ^_^;

Sort of a prank version of jujitsu - you (inadvertantly) turned his own joke against him. =:)
