Free RPGs!

No, not rocket-propelled grenades, though that could make life interesting. We're talking role-playing games. Lots of good stuff in here: Traveler, Call of Cthulhu, Eclipse Phase, Night’s Black Agents, Firefly, etc. They’re mostly demo packs, but still an excellent overview of new RPGs that might be worth checking out.

I have no idea how much longer this free bundle will be running. Their web site has been getting slammed, so you might have to refresh your browser over time to get in and get the bundle.

Gamers Helping Pakistan Flood Relief and Doctors Without Borders

DriveThroughRPG previously did a really cool program for Haiti relief where you could donate money, $10-$20, and they would match the donation and give it to Doctors Without Borders. If you gave $25, the money didn't get doubled, it still went to DWB/Haiti, but you got over $1,000 worth of PDF RPG product. And there were some very good products in there! Spycraft, Serenity, a huge amount of D&D product, Full Light Full Steam (Victorian steampunk), The Magpie Codex, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Spirit of the Season (very cool pulp module for Spirit of the Century), Coretex, Department 7, two wrestling RPGs, 3:16, etc.

It was pretty cool, I bought this package late January. Some of it is supplements, some is modules, some are core rules like Serenity, Coretex, etc. And you're not going to see a lot of this stuff at your friendly local game store.

Right now, they're doing a similar program for flood relief in Pakistan. Some of the product includes Harn, Icons, Starblazers, Don't Rest Your Head, etc. For $25. It's a lot of downloading, but there's a lot of good stuff. I would particularly recommend Don't Rest Your Head, it's a very interesting concept where insomnia gives you powers beyond those of mortal man along with the ability to see the world as it really is, unfortunately the world then sees you and if you ever fall asleep, you're in big trouble. It has some very interesting dice mechanics that lets you risk your character's sanity.

I recommend this. You're donating to a good charity for a good cause, and you're getting some excellent RPG product out of it.

The Haiti program raised over $150,000, the Pakistan program is over $50,000 and it just started earlier this week. I have no idea how long it will be going on, so I'd buy now if you're interested.
