Doonesbury Say What?

"If John McCain had been elected, people would be questioning him too."
— Rep. John Campbell on "birthers"

I was surprised to find out that there is a birther controversy regarding McCain. His father was a naval admiral, and John was born at a military hospital in Panama. So Campbell might be right, the birthers might be nagging McCain had he been elected in the previous cycle.

I doubt it would have happened. Yes, there was that, but it was in response to the Birthers of Obama, and as far as I know, it was intended as a satire and a "oh, we could do this, if we wanted to, but, y'know, John McCain is a natural-born citizen, and so we're not going to.

Did you know that Arizona just passed a law requiring presidential candidates to present a birth certificate or other proof of U.S. birth to the secretary of state before they can appear on the Arizona ballot.

Yes, I did. And apparently, the exception to that rule is if you have a document proving you have had your penis tip snipped.
