J. Geils Band was a pretty big name for their time, I guess that time is too long past. I was selling audio equipment when Love Stinks and Centerfold came out, I heard those two albums All... The... Time. Fortunately they were pretty good.
I loaded Love Stinks on my iPhone and listened to it last week. I think it holds up as an excellent piece of '80s rock. Last week I had some dental work done, and I really like my dentist because we can talk '70s/'80s rock. The one thing we totally agree upon is rockers that write/sing/perform their own music: not just pretty boys who sing and dance. That's why I'll take people like Paul Simon or Mark Knopfler over Boy Band of the Month any day. They may not be the best singers, but they do it all, and I don't care about dancing or being pretty.
