If your CU is doing that as a new feature, then possibly. That sounds like a good technique, even if it is a little weird. I'm not keen on phone banking and I don't do it. But my wife doesn't trust online banking, so I guess it's to each their own.
I haven't done ATM deposits in quite a while: my bank added photo deposit to their app, so that's been my methodology for quite a while. It's very cool: enter the amount, take a photo of both sides of the endorsed check, and you're done. I have Apple Pay for my iPhone, and I've been noticing an increasing number of merchants accepting it, but I haven't enabled it yet. Considering the number of restaurants that get hacked, perhaps I should. I ought to look in to see if it will support multiple cards/accounts.
