I'm planning a presentation to give at the local Chamber of Commerce. I imagine a LOT of local businesses have really lousy IT setups.
I typically charged $50/hr in Phoenix, the most I made was $125. It's kind of a funny story. It was the company that my then girlfriend worked for, I did some work and gave her an invoice. She called me back and said 'I increased your rate to $125.' I said 'WHAT?!' She said 'I pay some contractors a lot more than that, and when you leave, what you've done stays working. When they leave, half the time it breaks.'
But here, there's no way I could charge that much unless I had a CISSP (if that still exists) and had an established company behind me, and then I'd be charging more.
