It's been pretty clear to me for years that there's a difference between the religion that comes from the Christian Foundational Writings and the civic religion of TurboJesus, the prosperity gospel, and the utter fidelity to the most reactionary of rightist nationalism. Unfortunately, because they're are so many marks that think they're smarks in this civic religion, there aren't enough Christians to shout them down and make them choose some other entity to pretend to follow.
