Wait - with a nickname like DisneyDream. you're saying that you're a "HUGE Disney fan"? I'd have never guessed! (rofl)

I don't know what the problem is with the DCU. They're dropping buckets of money into it, and they just don't seem to be able to get an integrated franchise to work. They don't seem to be able to make ensemble flics work, much less solo flics. The first Wonder Woman movie was great. The second one, not so much. The Batman movies worked well. The first Aquaman movie did pretty good box office. I think the new prez made a horrible decision to toss Batgirl without releasing it because they wanted a multi-million dollar tax write-off, but hey: they didn't ask me, nor did they ask anyone else!

Personally, when I stopped buying comics, I was buying more DC than Marvel, that was a long time ago. Now, clearly MCU is doing much better than DCU, but both are sputtering at the moment. With Disney firing John Majors (with great cause), that's going to shake up the next few years of movies, it'll going to be interesting to see what they'll do to recover from that!

Marvel, in the last three years, has had four major disappointing theatrical releases: Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Eternals (both 2021), it can be argued that Thor: Love and Thunder was a disappointing release making it five (2022), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and now The Eternals (2023). They had four hits during that sequence (not counting Thor on both). And this year they only have one release: Deadpool 3, which will be (probably) a major box office smash. 2025 sees Captain America: Brave New World, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Blade, Avengers 5, and Avengers: Secret War. And guaranteed some of those are Kang tie-ins which will need some work done on them with the firing of Majors. No idea what Thunderbolts will entail, new group with possible involvement of other heroes?

Prior to '21, the biggest bombs were Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World. And I think they both made back their costs, just weren't huge successes. If I had time and inclination, it'd be interesting to see how many DCU movies made more than 2x their costs outside of Batman and Suicide Squad. I think I saw the first SS, haven't seen a Batman movie in quite some time.

And that's 32 films released to date. Not counting The Hulk movie that was released the same year as the first Iron Man movie.

You really should see Chariots of Fire, it's quite an amazing film! And the sound track? Vangelis - perhaps one of his best. And you should see Barbie! Seriously. Excellent film, and very funny. Turn off your brain and get a big bowl of popcorn and have fun.
