The fix for Tesla's CyberTruck accelerator pedal problem is riveting!

Literally.

Drilling a hole in the bottom of the pedal and snapping in a rivet.

They're supposed to take a measurement first and if whatever the measurement is falls within certain specs, replace the pedal. Otherwise, poprivet.

Not that I would ever own a Tesla, but were I to own one, I would be royally PO'd. That pedal should have been one unit, not one with a slip-on cover. This rivet detracts from the appearance of the interior of my butt-ugly truck. They should have machined the pedal out of a single piece of stock, which you might have expected out of a high-tech/high-cost car maker.

BUT NO! We're gonna drill a hole in your truck and pop in a rivet.

I hope it's a polished stainless steel rivet with good flanging and not some Our Own Hardware aluminum rivets made in china and applied with one of those hand riveters that cost $9.99!

The rivet gun demonstrated in the video in the article looked moderately hi-tech, but the rivet itself looked no different than what I'd buy at Home Depot etc.

That rivet will get in the way of Musk's all-important Aesthetic that the original clipped-on, cheap-ass cover bit didn't! The horror! It's much better if the drivers and anyone unlucky enough to be in the truck with them or on the roads or sidewalks near them died in completely preventable high-speed crashes.

Admittedly, this is a good, low-tech solution to a problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place. But I'm sure it annoys and aggravates somebody who will be doing his best to make the next car even less user-friendly.
