Or, more accurately, bear with observatory.

A few nights ago a bear walked in the front door.

Normally the door is not left open, but it really speeds the cooling of the building. One of Russet's minions came out of the 3.5 meter control room and a young black bear, around 100 lbs., was standing in the entryway. It sported an ear tag and apparently had no fear of people. Loud noise was made and it backed up and went away.

It has subsequently been seen at Sun Spot, the National Solar Observatory, about two miles away. There have been two other bears seen with it. Because it hasn't seemed to be afraid of people, Game & Wildlife are going to try and capture and relocate rather than shoot it, apparently it's young and hasn't learned to be afraid of people yet.

There've been a lot of email memos flying back and forth, I found it interesting that people are instructed to take down hummingbird feeders, described as Bear Cokes.

And apparently it likes Apache Point, it's been seen on the grounds at least twice since it walked into the admin building.
