She got bit by a cat. Said cat was my brother's and lived up at his shop. He hadn't been up there in a couple of days, and when he went up Saturday, he found that the cat had been badly mauled by a dog and needed to be euthenized. Sadly, she was due to give birth to a litter of kittens really soon.
Well, in trying to get her out from under a truck and wrapped in a blanket to take her to the Humane Society, she bit my mom on the thumb. After dealing with the cat, my mom went to the ER and had a tetanus shot and the wound cleaned, she was then given the stern warning that if the vein in her arm started running a red streak up it that she was to get back to the ER ASAP.
Later that night, after watching the Sun's playoff game, she noticed the red streak while showering. Dad took her up to the ER and they admitted her immediately.
Things seem OK right now. She's on an antibiotic IV and feels fine, the red line is gone. But apparently she'll be in the hospital a few days, I don't really know for how long.
So Happy Mother's Day, mom! Get better soon and get the hell out of the hospital!
