Now we have Synthetic Identity Fraud

Basically they get a valid SSN and use a name similar to yours, then use a network of corporate business stooges to create a good credit history. Get a bunch of credit cards, have fun! Theoretically you may never know it is happening to you because the not-quite-match on name causes a second credit file to be opened on you.

Interesting methodology. One specific incident is referenced, and they say more is happening.

Malfunctioning car electronics cause large number of cars in area to be unusable

Basically one car had a faulty wireless entry system which (apparently) started broadcasting white noise on the frequency used by many other wireless entry systems, effectively jamming them. Unfortunately the car owner had parked the car for his daily commute to work.

Did these people not know that there is a fall-back technology of inserting the key into the lock and turning it....?
