There is a Roger Zelazny story or book about a guy who had an inheritance that continued as long as he was in college, but ended when he graduated. He changed his major every time that he was on the cusp of graduating, thus perpetuating his student status. Eventually the college tired of him because he was better educated than all of the instructors so they crafted a degree to kick him out.

Thanks!
