There's a little place in town that definitely was geared towards a higher, more European palette. We stopped by there a couple of months ago and a sign on the door said it was temporarily closed. So it looks like the guy could possibly reopen when the economy improves. This was never a "go to" place for me, the food was good, but the vibe just really didn't suite me.

There's another place that does/did fantastic Italian/Mediterranean Rim cuisine, I absolutely loved their gnocchi with grilled chicken breast. Their servers brought garlic in olive oil to the table and made a little paste with parm, red pepper flakes, and balsamic. Very yummy. We do our own sort of version when we go to places that have similar setups.

Well, I think they're dead. I could swear I saw vehicles in their lot last weekend, but when we drove by Friday after lunch, the lot was empty. On a Friday afternoon. So I called today: 10 rings and no answer. Also 10 rings on their El Paso location, no answer.

But their web site is still normal. I know it would be an expensive operation because of the ingredients and their very well stocked wine bar, I just wish they'd closed one of the locations in hopes that the other would survive rather than lose both. It's possible that the lack of ready credit might have done them in, restaurants really need a ready credit flow, they operate on pretty thin margins.

The sad thing is that the really lousy places continue to survive.

*sigh*
