It was bound to happen sooner or later after over 100,000 trouble-free road miles in the last five years (excluding the rock that took out my tranny about 4 years ago): I lost a tire heading back to Cloudcroft from Phoenix.

No big deal, right rear sidewall tore with a rapid depressurization rather than a total blowout and shred, outside of Tucson. No problems replacing it, fortunately I had all of my luggage and stuff in the back seat rather than the trunk area, so no prob getting out the spare and jack. Unfortunately it's too late to get a new tire, so I got a room for the night and will get it replaced in the morning and head on. And sadly the tire is less than a year old, and torn sidewalls cannot be repaired. No idea what the warranty will cover with this.

I probably could have pressed on with the spare as it's rated at 3,000 miles, but they say don't do over 50 MPH with it, and though I did 60 going in to Tucson, I don't want to do the rest of the trip at that speed. Not to mention the traffic hazard I would be chugging along at 50-60 for 400 miles.
