Just got back from seeing The Interview
Jan. 15th, 2015 07:48 pmWell. I did not have high expectations, and my expectations were pleasantly exceeded. It was a surprisingly good movie. I was really wanted to see it based on the trailers when it came out, unfortunately all of the crap went down with the Sony Pictures hack. We were out of town for Christmas and our local theater didn't carry it for a week or so. Since my wife is an astronomer and works at night (surprise!, though there are daytime astronomers, or Daywalkers as we call them) I try to see movies that she's not overly interested in when she's working, and that was tonight! I put in an extra hour of work Tuesday and left early today to catch a 4:40 showing.
And this is perhaps the first time that I've had an entire movie theater to myself.
The thing that I found interesting was that I was expecting Seth Rogen to be the idiot screwball, instead he was the level-headed one of the pair and James Franco was the idiot. Everybody (well, most everybody) knows the plot: TV interview team is invited to North Korea to interview Little Kim who is a fan of the show. The CIA recruits them to assassinate Kim with a contact poison.
I won't get in to the details, but there's lots of mayhem and amusing stuff happening. The thing that surprised me was that it actually had some character growth.
Anyway, I liked it. You might, or you might not. If it looks amusing to you, go see it and you'll get some laughs.
