Today was an excellent day: we saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstagg, and the 1936 Olympic Stadium! Had an excellent late lunch/early dinner, and I was able to get a British printing of Charles Stross' new Laundry novel! There are two book stores here in Berlin that specialize in English-print books. Apparently the strike in Calais and the post strike delayed getting it, but get it I did! So I'll have a nifty read on the flight home.

And today's photos have been posted to my web site at www.waynewestphotography.com/gallery.

We've got a 5ish hour layover in Newark, but getting back in via Customs will take some time, and there are a couple of decent restaurants there, so shouldn't be a big deal. And we'll be back in Phoenix around 8:30 Tuesday night.

Final photo tally: LOTS. My Lumix frame count is up in the 650s, but with evaluation shooting before I left that's probably 500 images (including HDR bracketing). Don't know how many I've shot with my Canon Eos 6D, but I've posted just shy of 300 images on my web site so it's been a lot.

And I've screwed up tremendously. I had the brilliant idea to save space while copying my images by deleting the JPEGs. After all, I have the RAWs, so why keep the JPEGs after I've posted them to my site and Facebook? Well, the problem is that depending on the mode the Lumix is in, it doesn't produce a RAW, only JPEG. It's purely my fault, and I'll get some file recovery software and we'll see what I can get back, that's just the way it is. I think the reasoning behind their producing only JPEG in some modes is that those modes require image manipulation, and in doing so they might as well just output a JPEG. If I'd been thinking I would have noticed that and only deleted the Lumix JPEGs when I had a RAW, or only deleted the Canon JPEGs which are larger anyway, but I didn't. So I've lost some images, perhaps permanently, and all I'll have are the reduced file size JPEGs that I've posted.

Oh, well.

Europe has been tremendous fun, and tremendous expense! We came with 500 Euros in hand, should have doubled it. Again, a learning experience. Cheaper to sell excessive funds back to the bank than to hit the ATM, I do not want to look at my bank account when I get home! Fortunately I have my wife's account that I can hit....

Well, it's 10:30 and I need to get to bed, got an early and long day tomorrow!
