Loved it! The main character, Jack Malik, is a pretty good performer/song writer who just can't catch a break. He's riding his bicycle home at night in the rain when there's a world-wide 12 second power outage, and he's hit by a bus. When he gets out of hospital, his friends throw him a little party, and one of his gifts is a really sweet-looking acoustic guitar as his had been smashed up in the accident. They ask him to play something, and he starts playing Yesterday. (as seen in the adverts)

And no one recognizes it, and they think it's pretty amazing. Not as good as Coldplay, but still pretty great.

Turns out that The Beatles no longer exist, and he's the only one who remembers them.

Bit of a chance to remake his career, depending on how his memory holds out for recreating songs....

Anyway, we REALLY enjoyed this movie! Definitely going to buy it when it releases on home media, and I'm actually going to buy the soundtrack, something that I don't often do. Himesh Patel, the actor who played Jack, played all the instruments and sang all the songs, and did quite a good job. Lots of interesting trivia about the movie on IMDB if you care to dig for it. A couple of really great plot twists, and that's all I'm going to say.

I didn't get to sit through the credits, had to run off to deal with an emergency order to empty my bladder. ;-)

So - recommended, especially if you like The Beatles or don't hate The Beatles and like musical movies.

That's how long it took me to make a batch of gazpacho, from getting down the food processor to opening the can of tomatoes, peeling and cutting up the cuke, cutting up the bell pepper, smashing a clove of garlic and skinning it, measuring out the EVO and balsamic, then blending it all and pouring it into storage containers and popping it in the fridge! There was a bit of sampling and adding some more balsamic. Used basil EVO and lemongrass mint balsamic....

I also pickled half an onion - Russet used the other half in something else - and went a little nuts. The recipe calls for half a cup of water, a quarter cup of white vinegar, a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon and a half of maple syrup (Vermont Grade B, natch), and a teaspoon or so of salt. Instead of the white vinegar, I used two special balsamics: peach and apricot.

And the onions taste very nice!

Yes, I've spent a lot of money on special EVOs and balsamics, but I REALLY like the results that I get!

I was planning on doing burgers tonight, but I've got a lot of homework to do, plus I have to be in at work three hours early, so we're doing fish sticks and we'll do burgers tomorrow night. I made the gazpacho for lunch tomorrow, I've got some cornbread left over from earlier in the week and I might take some saltines, too.

(edited to clarify that it was lemongrass MINT balsamic vinegar in the gazpacho, not just lemongrass.)
