This is actually the second time that he's been arrested, I'm not sure if he was still in custody for the second arrest or how he was released.
Clever guy. He opened an ATM installation/service company in tourist cities, then bribed/coerced ATM service techs to install Bluetooth card skimmers in ATMs, which his gang then stole. Over the years they skimmed off over $1.2 BILLION dollars! He also had people murdered, engaged in trafficking, all sorts of lovely upstanding things.
The Romanian government held a trial in abstentia and convicted him on a number of charges and want him returned. I don't understand the exact circumstances, but this guy, Florian Tudor, was arrested in Mexico City Thursday in the office of Mexico's Attorney General.
Here's the best part. He did not go gently into that good night, and they got it all on video. There's a link in the last paragraph of the video showing him getting manhandled out of the office and literally being carried by four large officers, one on each limb, down stairs and through security scanners, into the back of a pickup truck and off to detention.
