There's lots of implied, rather than explicit, sex. One of the main characters, the gumshoe (Drew), is definitely gay, and has the hots for one of his friends (Daniel) but won't do anything because Daniel's only about 22 and Drew's 12 years older, he doesn't want to hurt him. But there's a lot of other hunks that trip Drew's low blush factor, so he's frequently embarrassed. The second book, which I'm about to write up a review of, Drew actually gets a piece from the clone of a Hollywood star.
I really like Hartman, it's a very entertaining universe he's created. I think it would make a fantastic RPG world/GURPs book. It would appear he's now part of the California crowd, I was thinking it would be cool to find him at DragonCon the next time I'm out there. I'm also interested in his other book about how various churches deal with homosexuality, it looks like a good read.
The second book is also really of the "cute slash" variety, but at least the male characters admit it and the female het characters enjoy seeing the pretty boys.
I think this would fall into the "cute slash" category
