We have a monthly "brown bag" presentation, last Thursday as we were leaving my boss asked me to do one as sort of an intro to SQL Server. So with three days work and one walk thru, I presented today.

It went quite well, I kinda flubbed in two places, but it was still a good presentation. My boss thought that I did an excellent job explaining a very complicated system, he especially liked my use of examples and sample code. And we had eleven people show, which is a pretty good crowd for such an event.

If anyone is a glutton for punishment and would like to have the Power Point slides and my notes, I'll be happy to mail them.

Very tired.

It came up today, twice in fact, how useful such an introduction like that can be. I wish someone had done something like that for the other devs on the product I'm working on now. Most of them are currently working on other projects, but I kick myself quite often at some of the stupid things we did.

The second time it came up was when I was looking through the more advanced features and I finally realized (and later demoed to two people) how powerful full text indexing can be. I've been using SQL for years and there's still so much to learn.

I started using it back in the v4.21a days on OS/2. Yeah, you pretty much can't stop learning it! and now v2008 is being talked about....
