or strangle something.

I have a friend in hospice care in Phoenix right now dying of bone cancer. I've known her for probably 15+ years. I got to see her when I was in Phoenix two weeks ago and it wasn't easy, but she was in pretty good spirits. Sadly it looks like she's rather gone down hill since then.

Monday I decide to send her flowers. I find some nice tulips on Flowers.com, yellow and purple, colors that I recall from her condo that she'd probably like. Flowers.com wouldn't deliver the tulips to a hospital because FedUPS doesn't deliver to hospitals, so I had them delivered to my parent's house. I decide to also send my mom some flowers, but it's a surprise. I include a card for each one appropriate to the person.

They delivered my mom's flowers first. Without the card. She thought they were for Mary, my friend, and delivered them.

She got home and the tulips were lying on the ground. In Phoenix. Where it reached at least 94 degrees. They were not taking the heat well.

At least they had the card with them.

I can appreciate that florists are a little busy this time of year, but this is pretty freakin' fundamental. Most flowers include a card, and had mom's set included them, she would have realized that it was for Mother's Day and that it wasn't Mary's set. Fortunately my mom said they were both quite nice and she's fine keeping the tulips, switching them would probably confuse Mary, she doesn't seem to be tracking very well because of the meds and disease.

GRRRRR..... Not a happy camper. At all.
