Acoustics and lack thereof

I've always had a huge interest in sound and acoustics, today I came across this article on anechoic chambers. I found it quite interesting.

At our wedding, Russet's Maid of Honor, Sally, is also an astronomer. Her husband is also a PhD, his is in acoustics. I really wish I'd had time to spend with him, but if there are two people who have almost zero free time at a wedding it is the Couple of the Hour. Hopefully we'll catch up with them some time soon, he seemed like a pretty hoopy frood as did his wife and little hellion of a daughter.

Interesting article! Finding oneself without power is the closest ordinary mortals come to a non-sound environment and, the last time this happened, I was myself profoundly aware of just how LOUD my breathing was. Hard to imagine a setting where even that would have been noisy.

Nope, Couple Of The Hour is no occasion to get to know people more than in passing. Even worse than being a GoH at a con! LOL
