I'm glad to see Lara Croft made the list, but I don't know who Arthur Bach is or how Lucius Malfoy and Cruella De Vil made it. I'd think Honor Harrington and Miles Vorkosigan should be contenders.

I found it odd that E. Scrooge made it on the list. He wasn't the richest man in London of his time. I get the feeling they just sat down and thought of 15 rich people in fiction. It's a very poor pathetic attempt at humor, more worthy of CNN than Forbes.

Each name on the list is a link with information about the character. I didn't recognize Arthur Bach either, but checking out the link I learned that he is the main character from the movie Arthur and was portrayed by Dudley Moore. Since I had absolutely no desire to see that movie, I was not surprised that I didn't recognize him.

Honor Harrington and Miles Vorkosigan aren't mainstream enough for a publication like Forbes to consider, otherwise I'd be questioning why Lazarus Long didn't make the list. Remember that science fiction and fantasy that aren't on television or in the movies are still very much a niche interest.

Ah! I haven't had time to read the full article yet. But I would certainly agree: Lazarus Long should be there.

...Lara Croft? She hasn't been famous, popular, or even worth playing with (teehee) since about the third Playstation game, which was like, circa 1999 or something. I'm sure there's richer video game characters out there. :P

I think that the two movies amply demonstrate Lady Croft's wealth and resources. ;)

Hmm...Good point. But are they going based on a character's fictional wealth as portrayed in the storyline, or their actual monetary value in our world? :P
