WANNA SEE! I've seen a lot of bands, and this is the one band that I really regret not having seen. Rami Malek does quite a good job.
I had problem playing the trailer directly from the Rolling Stone article, I ended up clicking the Youtube link within the video frame and opening it in another window, then I had no problem.

Date: 2018-05-19 02:53 pm (UTC)I read about that the day after I made the post. How ridiculous! Apparently they end the movie just after the Wembley performance as he's just beginning to get sick. I'll be making a post on that.

Date: 2018-05-20 04:40 am (UTC)It depends on how you view the life of Queen. If you're looking at the movie as a biography of the band, or as a biopic of Freddie Mercury, and then it's a perception problem. Wembley was a high point for the band, but by no means its end or pinnacle, and the band continued recording until just before Freddie died, and now two of the three remaining members have picked up again. Even if the movie is more about the band than about Freddie Mercury, I think it's disingenuous to discount Freddie's sexuality or disconnect it from the band's history. Brain May stated in interviews that in the early days that Freddie was definitely more bi than gay as they shared hotel rooms and there were plenty of women in their rooms, it was later that Freddie switched to more gay than bi. I don't think a movie involving Freddie Mercury's music should discount his sexuality. But I can see how Hollywood could be hesitant to include it in fear that it would reduce the market for the movie.
