This is one of the nicest movies that I've seen recently. I absolutely loved the opening montage showing the growth and time passing of Christopher Robin, it was amazingly well done. I hope it gets some Oscar nods, but I doubt it.
One thing that we enjoyed was adult Christopher's wife is played by Hayley Atwell, also known as Agent Carter from various Marvel Cinematic Universe properties. And there's a Time Lord in the movie. So for fanfic possibilities we have a Jedi master, a top-notch spy, and a Time Lord. My wife was talking about a fanfic Lord of the Rings that she's developing, and now we've got this rattling around her skull!

Date: 2018-08-21 11:33 am (UTC)I'm conflicted about seeing this. I know the CR story, having read it back in the 90's, and there is that Goodbye Christopher Robin that just came out recently. I'm picturing this in the same vein as all the other recent reboots and re-tellings (there's Disney's Star Wars, Star Trek, again, as well as the re-written PJ Hobbit and LOTR). Admittedly I loved Peter Rabbit, btw.
I may see it 'just because' it is there, but I have to clear my mind of all 100 Acre Wood conceptions first. We had a British patron here who told me once that Disney's Pooh was an abomination and that none of her folk liked it.

I tried very hard to be non-spoilery. Since it was obvious that Christopher was now an adult, I didn't consider revealing that he was married constituted a spoiler.
I want to watch Goodbye Christopher Robin soon, going to check what I have available on my Apple TV subscriptions later today.
