Peter Jackson restoring World War I footage

Absolutely amazing. Not just the restoration, but re-timing it, then employing some people whom I did not know existed: Forensic Lip Readers to read what people were saying, then actors to create a soundtrack! Absolutely amazing.

The end result will be a documentary movie called They Shall Not Grow Old, I saw the trailer on the movie trailer channel on my Apple TV and I was stunned. I'm sure I'll have to wait for it to hit the Netflix or Amazon Prime as it definitely won't be showing at my local theater.

One theater in Maine will air it on Thurs. 12/27 at 1pm. 1pm??? Why not an evening showing so those who work during the day might be able to see it. I'm bummed. It's only 40 miles down the road. If I wasn't working, I'd make the trip. Like you, I guess I'll have to wait to see if it ever comes out on DVD/Blueray.

Closest non-local theaters for us are 90 minutes or over 2 hours away.  It does look pretty awesome, though.  I'll bet Ken Burns is thinking he's got some upgrading to do.

LOL.  Like MASH.  There was something else that I saw recently that lasted longer than the actual historical event, but I can't remember what it was.

Looks like I'm going to get another chance on 1/21 (state/fed holiday-MLK Jr Day), 40 miles away. Just a heads-up for you. I know it's a haul for you, but it looks like a few theaters in El Paso will have it that same day.

Unfortunately the 20th is the 'blood wolf whatever moon' lunar eclipse, and a film crew is coming out to do some taping with my wife.  I'm planning to do some photography for it, so we probably wouldn't be able to go to EP the next night.  Plus, she might be working the 21st, not sure ATM.  But thanks for the info!
