There's an interesting scene 5 seconds in around the Statue of Liberty. I'm not sure how to interpret it.
According to the Ars article, all trailer footage is from the first 20 minutes of the movie, which is good: can't spoil too much of what will be happening. Release date in the USA is late April, I hope they're doing the same date world-wide. It'll be interesting to see what happens to people who were killed prior to the Snappening, like Vision and Gammora.

Date: 2019-02-06 05:29 pm (UTC)Let's assume The Snappening is roughly an even distribution. Half of each government's permanent workers, half of their Parliament/Congress/whatever. Half of their military, police force, aircraft crews, farmers, fire fighters, doctors, surgeons operating on people, etc. A LOT of people are going to die immediately after The Snappening because half of the drivers on the road are going to vanish and as a result a lot of those cars are going to go out of control and cause accidents. Planes will literally fall out of the skies as pilots and co-pilots vanish and even if others can take over the controls, the odds of people on the ground being able to talk them down are not good.
Fast-forward six months and crops are going unharvested because there weren't enough farmers to care for them (fewer crop sprayers) and later pull them from the fields, transport them for processing and distribution, ship them to stores. Part of that is self-correcting because there's half the number of mouths to feed.
It would probably stop most wars as unit cohesion would be shattered, though terrorism might flourish.
We also don't know how much time has passed between The Snappening and when this movie starts, or if it has been stated, I don't know how long. A HUGE amount of PTSD, and half the number of mental health care professionals who also have their own shock to deal with.
Getting back to the boat city, I don't see the point to people flocking to the USA. We would be in every bit as much chaos and turmoil as everywhere else, if not worse, because with the exception of Pearl Harbor and 9/11 and the alien rift over NYC, the USE doesn't get attacked very much. In fact, second and third world countries with more solid agrarian economies would have a better handle on themselves than we would.
That's what I'm pondering, Pinky, and occasionally discussing with my wife. But it's probably at too detailed a level for the script writers to delve in to. We just finished watching Black Panther, Ant Man & Wasp is the only movie remaining before re-watching Infinity War to catch up our refresh before End Game releases with, of course, the presumably vital Captain Marvel interlude.

Date: 2019-02-07 06:33 pm (UTC)Oh, it'll be a world-wide release, they really mint the money in China with them. I just hope it's a simultaneous release -- too many spoilers will be floating around the internet otherwise!
