By the way, there's a How I Built This NPR podcast with the founders of Lonely Planet that was quite interesting and entertaining.

ANYWAY, lots of good stuff! The bundle launched today and is up for two weeks. Myself, I'm just buying the $1 level, though that might change if I get the job at the school district. The books Epic Drives of the World and Epic Hikes of the World certainly have a lot of appeal.

As usual, the books are DRM-free and available in PDF, Kindle, and Epub formats. Top tier is $15, and the default charity is the National Park Foundation!

oooh, thanks! I have reasons to travel near Glacier and the Great Smoky Mountains, and I'd also like to see the Grand Canyon. Hmmm.

My ex-girlfriend, who would later be the best man at my wedding, and two friends who would later marry, and I went to the Grand Canyon almost 20 years ago.  Sadly I have no idea where the negatives went, but there is one amazing moment I'll never forget.  Standing near the edge by the lodge, a cloud in the canyon hit the edge and its mass and inertia kept it pushing, causing it to spill over the edge, causing an instant ground fog.  It was absolutely awesome.  Later we went to Sedona and Jerome, where the couple got engaged and I photographed the engagement, having been clued in on the event. :-)
