I finally did something today that I should have gotten done eight months ago!

I took down our Christmas tree!

Good thing it's artificial!

My wife didn't want to mess with it because she swore it would not go back in to the box. We may have guests coming for a day or two next week, and I wanted it down. And as a bonus, it lets a lot more light into our main room as it was close to the patio door which was the main venue for light coming in.

Normally I would not let it stay up so long, but at the beginning of the year I started working at the library as part of a class to complete my degree, and now I'm actually working there. And heaven forbid my wife do actual housework. So today I was working on our guest room and this was among the things that I did. I still have more work to do to progressively improve our house, but Terry's seen it before in the shambles that it is, so he won't be too surprised that it's largely the same as before. I'm hoping that I can get some boxes out to our shed Monday and Tuesday as we're supposed to get hammered by rain later in the week.

I swear I won't let it stay up so long next year!

Yeah, that's the thing about those artificial trees. It's always a struggle to get the thing back into the box again once it's properly disassembled. I've have to tape the box shut again to make sure it stayed stowed in the off-season months. And the tape gun I use for that job has gone missing, so I need to get a new one. Sooner than later would likely be good.

I feel ya! We store the tree inside, so sealing the box isn’t all that critical, though it would be nice. One thing that I hope to do is gain access to our closets so I can use their storage space, and something like the tree going in to one would be ideal

At the library I’m constantly mailing books and using that 2” wide shipping tape to seal reused padded envelopes, and I’m pretty much out! Can’t find anymore in our supply closet! And the library director was out all last week! A tape gun doesn’t really work for me, so I’m using a smaller dispenser that does the job. I took to using standard “invisible” tape for securing the labels so I would use less of the shipping tape. Hopefully she’ll order more Monday and I’ll have it in a couple of days.

Yes, it would have made more sense, I would have found it kind of unbearable.

Congratulations! My personal record was some time in May. Wouldn't have worked well for a May pole, though, so we took it down.
