Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife has tested positive for the virus, I wish her well.
The Formula One Grand Prix race in Australia has been cancelled as a member of Team McLaren has tested positive for the virus.
My employer, New Mexico State University, started Spring Break a week early, i.e. now. Facilities will be open 8-5, so I'll get to work. Teachers are prepping to offer instruction online, which is a distinct possibility when they're scheduled to reopen on the 30th.
New Mexico Department of Health issued a ban suspending all public gatherings larger than 100 people, effectively closing public plays and performances. Our local movie theater sectioned off their seating so no theater can seat more than 100 people, but they're still open. Depending on how they did it, stupid or smart, this could increase the concentration of people in the theater. I'm betting on stupid, hoping for smart.
New Mexico had its fourth case confirmed yesterday. I went to see what was new just now, and the health dept web page is unavailable! Why doesn't that fill me with the warm fuzzies?!

Fun fact. It's popular belief that Mozart was buried in a pauper's grave. He was not. He was buried in a "common" grave. This is to differentiate it from a noble's grave. A common grave is subject to having the remains disinterred ten years later, noble graves were not. He was given proper funerary rights. His buriel was also attended by a small group of fellow musicians, including Salieri, a close friend and it was not a dark and stormy night, it was a calm day and partly foggy.

Date: 2020-03-13 10:44 pm (UTC)That’s the problem here, wholly inadequate testing, which means the number of infected people who aren’t isolated is probably much higher than known.
